Parks Canada Wants To Pay You To Travel Across The Country Next Summer
It's never too early to start thinking about what you'll be doing in the summer even when it's months away. Planning potential job opportunities is pretty smart too. Parks Canada is hiring young Canadians to have adventures in the great outdoors next summer. That really is the dream.
There are some pretty great natural landscapes that are always ready to be explored including national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas. Who wouldn't love to spend the summer visiting hidden gems and sharing all about it on social media?
Parks Canada is looking to hire three young Canadians to get out and explore the country's natural landscape in 2020 as part of its Parkslife youth collective.
For the three people who get the job, Parks Canada wants them to "have fun, create incredible memories and gain valuable skills through thrilling adventures in some of Canada's most spectacular places."
To be considered for the job, you have to be a registered full-time university or college and have completed at least one full year of post-secondary by May 2020. You also have to be going back to school full-time in September 2020.
Being bilingual in Canada's national languages is an asset but not necessary. As long as you know English or French you're good to go.
The ambassador job will mean living in Canada's capital region, specifically Gatineau, Quebec and working full-time from May to August 2020 and then part-time remotely from September 2020 until April 2021.
Throughout the summer, ambassadors will travel to some of Parks Canada's hidden gem locations and get the opportunity to experience the uniqueness each location has to offer.
"If you enjoy meeting new people and establishing meaningful connections, are passionate about Canada’s natural and cultural heritage and want to share this passion with other young Canadians, enjoy experiencing new places and are a talented communicator with knowledge of using social media tools, this challenge will be of interest to you," Parks Canada said.
The whole point of the ambassador job is to share science, conservation and indigenous reconciliation work done by Parks Canada with other young Canadians.
The goal is to ultimately inspire young people to explore nature and learn about Canada's natural and cultural heritage.
So if you want to apply you have to have experience with creating and giving presentations, social media, organizing events and activities, community engagement and volunteerism.
Parks Canada is accepting applications here from November 1 until November 17 at 11:59 p.m.
