People Are Furious With A Toronto Councillor For Calling Residents Living In A Certain Area "Cockroaches"
A few days ago, Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti made some comments during an interview with Rebel Media that have people in the city furious.
In the interview, Mammoiliti said that people living in the notoriously crime-ridden area of Jane and Finch were “cockroaches.”
And people in the city are not happy to have their fellow residents called “cockroaches.”

If you haven’t heard about this in the interview, Mammoliti said that when it came to solving the crime issue in the area that he saw it the same as, “spraying down a building full of cockroaches. The cockroaches are just going to scatter. Right?”
He also said that people should be evicted from their homes and that all social housing in the area should be knocked down.
People in the city didn’t take those comments lying down though.
Mammoliti would be an excellent councillor to eliminate.
It is, it's just terrible. We are better than this in Canada. I hope people in Toronto are aware of these comments.
We all know who the cockroach is.
Canadians in general, and elected reps in particular, should be much better than this. This hateful rhetoric should not be given air time.
WTF is wrong with this guy? This is unacceptable talk by any politician
The blowback from his comments has been so bad that Mammoliti says that he's received a death threat through a private message on Instagram.
He isn't the first politician in the city to fall prey to a backlash from comments that he's made against criminals. Earlier this year Mayor John Tory received a similar response after he called criminals "thugs," and has come under attack from a police officer for his handling of Toronto's gun crime.
An MPP also came under fire for wearing a bulletproof vest on a police ride along to the area this year.
