Pierre Poilievre had zero chill after a comedian surprised him with a question (VIDEO)
The conversation also included an awkward handshake.
Leader of the Conservative Party Pierre Poilievre was not having it when a comedian surprised him with questions at a rally in Halifax.
In a video shared by 22 Minutes, a comedy show on CBC, correspondent Dan Dillabough attended Poilievre's "Spike the Hike, Axe the Tax" rally in Halifax, where he put the politician on the spot in front of a rolling camera.
"Pierre Poilievre loves free speech. You can tell by the way he hates talking to the press and hasn't responded to any of our requests for an interview," Dillabough said at the start of the video.
It then cuts to Dillabough at the event and waiting in line to meet Poilievre. The interaction gets off to a strong start but quickly goes south the longer Dillabough peppers Poilievre with questions and remarks.
"Pierre Poilievre such an honour to meet you [...] Canada's next prime minister and laser eye surgery success story. Congratulations, I think you're doing an amazing job. If it was up to me you would be the Leader of the Opposition for the rest of your life," Dillabough said.
The conversation also included an awkward handshake that lasted nearly 30 seconds before Poilievre decided to let go and move on to the next person.
However, Dillabough wasn't done with the politician. He shared that he loved that Poilievre was "cracking down on murderers, thieves, [and] CBC journalists."
Poilievre had enough and turned back to Dillabough to say "this is why [the 22 Minutes] ratings are so terrible."
Dillabough is ushered to leave, but he decides to wait in line again and do it all over again.
That's when Poilievre insinuated Dillabough was a "terrible comedian."
The video was shared on X and YouTube, and the public's reaction has been mixed. Some people find the interaction comical, while others seem annoyed.
"Laser-eye success story. PP may have no sense of humour, but I was entertained!" one person wrote on YouTube.
"This is garbage from a usually very funny show... nothing Pierre said was wrong," another person commented.
"What did I just watch? Was that supposed to be funny? Seriously," an X user said.
One person called Dan a "hero" online.
Another person tweeted the video was "kind of amateur and weird."
Poilievre hasn't commented on the video since it was posted.
