The Toronto Raptors have worked out a blockbuster trade in the NBA sending their star DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard.
DeRozan has been a Raptor since 2009 and has become not only one of the best players the team has ever had, but also one of the most beloved.
Which means this trade is causing a lot of heartache for some fans, especially since Leonard doesn’t want to play for the Raptors apparently.

Since the trade went down this morning fans have been posting their tributes to the now former star of the team.
Thank you @DeMar_DeRozan for everything you have done for the city and the country, I will continue to rep your jersey with pride! #DeRozan
I'm not a religious fan or anything of the sort but I'm totally crushed to hear that the @Raptors want to trade @DeMar_DeRozan because I love love love him. How can they do this to us on the heels of Ford becoming Premier? I can't. #DeRozan
Its ok to cry Toronto 😭😭#Raptors #DeRozan

Pretty disappointed to see Demar leaving the Raptors. #DeRozan #sogood
Traded a guy w/ such a big heart and embraced the city for a guy who has no loyalty, had no problem leaving his team high & dry while he made sure to stay healthy to play for LAL. I cant even imagine Kawhii flying to Toronto at all, let alone staying after 1 yr. #DeRozan
Orlando Magic player, Terrence Ross, says Toronto needs to build a statue of DeRozan for his years of service to the Raptors.
Dear fans of Toronto,
It’s time you guys build a statue of @DeMar_DeRozan Regardless of what happens. He deserves it. 🇨🇦
There's even calls for Drake, a well known Raptors fan, to immortalize DeRozan in song.
How long until @Drake makes a song about the Derozan trade? #NBA #Derozan #RTZ
Some people are clearly worried about how DeRozan's best friend on the Raptors, Kyle Lowrey is going to take the news of the trade.
Live look at Kyle Lowry ....#DeMar #derozan #Kawhi #Raptors #NBA #spurs....they have cleared the gram. pic.twitter.com/zutivf7YeP
And of course, a lot of fans just can't get over the fact that the Raptors actually traded their best player and are angry.

For most people though it's just a sad day to be a Raptors fan.
Today is a sad, sad day. @Raptors trade is actually great on paper, but I can't believe @DeMar_DeRozan is gone. He had us, he WAS Toronto. Greatest Raptor of all time. #HeGotUs #WeTheNorth
I hate waking up to news like this... I didn't wanna see our boy leave. He's gotten us to where we are now, and this is a sad day. Thanks for everything DeMar, hate to see you go
I feel sad, DeRozan is my Vince Carter, we just traded the best Raptor I've seen
@DeMar_DeRozan I am truly sad today..you have been nothing but class since being here..you made me enjoy the game..i honestly hope the best for you..Raptors will regret having done this
