I feel like the weekend was created for the purpose of enjoying 48-hours of guilt-free eating. By the time Friday rolls around, people are more inclined to misbehave and that's when the extramarital affairs happen with the one thing we love most in life... food. The infamous cheat meal tantalizes us with its whispers of promised carbohydrates and sugar and eventually, we give into the tasty goodness that goes against all of the well-balanced diet commitments we made to ourselves.

If I said I wasn't guilty of doing this, then I'd be lying and it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one. Besides, one cheat meal every weekend isn't so bad, right? Especially when it supports your local city and has a good line up of local eats including Cathedral Social Hall, Labodega, and Sinfully Sweet Bakery.

Intrigued yet? Here are all the details you need to know about the Taste of Cathedral happening on Friday, January 28th:

Time: Doors open at 5:30, food tasting starts at 6

Location: The Italian Club

Food Tasting Vendors: Cathedral Social Hall, Cuppa T, Fellinger's Red Meat Wagon, Fiesta Filipino Pastry, La Bodega, Shannon's Pub & Grill, Sinfully Sweet Bakery and The Italian Club

Park Perks: Silent Auction and live music by The Ben Winoski Project

Tickets: $20 at Dessart Sweets (Note: cash or cheque only)

For full event schedule, check out Cathedral Village Online.

Annette Groves retired after backlash over rezoning plans that opened the door to 35,000 homes.

On a chilly Monday at the beginning of October, Caledon resident Al Axworthy carefully drove past a line of trucks to one of the 12 parcels of land former mayor Annette Groves prematurely rezoned using her strong mayor powers, opening the door to 35,000 new homes — three times the provincial target — with little public consultation.

As he passed the intersection of Queen and King streets in Bolton, Axworthy recalled standing there with Groves in 2022, protesting Highway 413.

Vancouver Coastal Health is warning anyone in the city's downtown who has had contact with a possibly rabid skunk to get a medical assessment immediately after a video emerged on social media.

The video posted on Facebook on Oct. 10 shows a skunk struggling to cross a Vancouver street, attracting a number of bystanders before a man picked up the animal using a sweater and moved it onto the sidewalk.
