Ontario Minister Rod Phillips Back In The Fold After Quitting Over Caribbean Vacay Drama
He'll be the new long-term care minister.
Looks like the former Minister of Finance, Rod Phillips, is not taking a permanent vacation away from cabinet after all.
Premier Doug Ford just announced a major cabinet shuffle that is actually going to introduce Phillips as the minister of long-term care, according to a press release.
Phillips had resigned in late December after word got out that he took a tropical holiday vacation to St. Bart's with his wife while Ontario ordered residents to stay home.
The current minister of long-term care, Merrilee Fullerton, is being moved to the minister of children, community and social services, after being criticized for her handling of the pandemic that plagued many long-term care homes.
Ministers Bill Walker, Jeff Yurek, Ernie Hardeman, Laurie Scott, and John Yakabuski, are being kicked out of their current positions, CTV News reports.
While there are many players being moved around in cabinet, Ford has reportedly decided to keep several ministers like Stephen Lecce, Christine Elliott and Sylvia Jones in their current positions, among a few others.
