Rogers & Bell Are Apparently Increasing Prices Of Phone & Internet Plans In Canada
Your phone and internet bills could be more expensive soon. 😬
Both Rogers and Bell are apparently increasing the prices of some phone and internet plans in Canada.
That means you could soon be paying more money every month for your phone and internet bills with these Canadian telecom companies.
If you have plans with Rogers or Bell, here's what you need to know about price hikes that are coming into effect.
The Rogers price hike will impact some customers who have wireless phone plans and internet plans with Rogers, a spokesperson for the Canadian telecom company told CBC News.
Also, price hikes will be applied to plans for some Fido customers.
The Rogers spokesperson told CBC News that many customers will see a price increase under $7 but it could be as high as $9 per month for some people.
Rogers posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that price increases "wouldn't affect all plans."
If your plan is affected and the cost is going up, you will "receive a bill notification advising you of the increase."
According to CBC News, customers who have been notified by Rogers about the increase will see the new price of their plans applied to bills issued after January 17, 2024.
Bell Canada customers shared with MobileSyrup that they were also told about price hikes on their bills coming into effect soon.
Some Bell Mobility customers in Canada were notified by email that their plan rates would go up by $6 a month starting in February.
This price increase is because Bell is "continuously investing to provide world-class services, reliable connections and to support the rapidly increasing network demand," according to the email received by customers.
Also, Bell customers shared that received notice of the price increase on their most recent bills, not by email.
Someone posted on X that this notice said the price of their monthly rate plan would go up by $6 a month starting on the February 2024 bill.
Narcity has reached out to both Rogers and Bell for more information about price increases to phone and internet plans.
