A recent article released by the Toronto Star mentions that Ryerson University is looking to open its own school of law. The institution published a letter of intent just last month, which serves as their first step to obtaining approval for the project. The letter mentions that their proposed law programs will be different from those offered in other traditional law schools in the country.

Ryerson University hopes to take a more innovative approach to law education. This entails providing students with more hands-on learning opportunities, incorporating technology into their lessons, and keeping up to date with current trends in the industry; on top of teaching the traditional theory and practices.

Anver Saloojee, a political professor at Ryerson, says that many law schools "are adapting and talking about innovation and using technology." Ryerson University hopes to take inspiration from schools across the country and form a unique approach to law education.

Many individuals are supportive of the idea, saying that the university's proposed program could launch new jobs in the legal profession; ones that are more oriented on technology. If Ryerson meets all the necessary requirements, it could be able to admit students as early as September 2018.
