Florida's Coastline Is Surrounded By These Several Large Sharks Right Now
With Florida being surrounded by the ocean you're bound to see awesome marine life scattered across the coastline. Some like to stay far out in the salty depths, while others like to get a bit closer to our shores. Several sharks are crossing Florida's oceans off of their summer bucket list, and we have a list of the ones that are here right now according to Ocearch.
1. Lando the Tiger Shark
Lando the Tiger Shark was last pinged on May 17th off the east coast of St. Augustine at 7:44 pm. This adult male stretches 10 ft long, weighing in at 464.5 lbs. He's by circling the waters off the east coast, happily enjoying Florida's fast approaching summer. Tiger sharks are close to being an endangered species, so it's a real treat to be seeing one so close to the coast.
2. Caroline
Sweet Caroline (buh buh buh) has made her way back to Florida's oceans after taking a quick vacation in Florida back in March and heading back out into the deep blue. She's returned for the Sunshine State's gorgeous summer weather, swimming close to Lando off of the east coast.
Little Lando shrinks in comparison to this huge Great White sub-adult female; She weighs in at a whopping 1348.1 lbs and is impressively large at 12 feet and 9 inches long. Since her May 15th ping, she's stayed close to Florida coastline enjoying the surf. Caroline is the longest shark blessing our oceans right now.
3. Miss May
Miss May's most recent ping from today, May 21st, at 11:29 am shows her hanging out near Daytona Beach. This sub-adult female Great White is only slightly smaller than sweet Caroline at 10ft. 2 in long, with a surprisingly low weight of 800 lbs. Miss May was the first White Shark tagged during Ocearch's Expedition NASFA and was named after Mayport, FL which will be Ocearch's future home at a joint Jacksonville University and Ocearch facility.
4. Miss Costa

Miss Costa found her way back to Florida's waters bright and early this morning, pinging in at 8:23 am. She visited us back during spring break in March and April and left, but has decided to return to our Sunshine State's warm Gulf of Mexico. Miss Costa the sub-adult great white female is a bit further out off the north coast of the Florida Keys, weighing in as the heaviest shark near Florida right now at 1668 lbs and measuring 12 ft 5in long.
5. Hudson

Hudson the happy baby Great White has just popped in to say hello today too; pinging in around 11:30 am this morning, May 21st, this little guy is an adorable 5 ft and 1 inch long. He's not very heavy either; Hudon's younger than a year old and is growing swimmingly -weighing in at 66.7 lbs. We can't wait to follow along as baby Hudson becomes a big boy. Hopefully, he regularly vacations in Florida's oceans!
6. Yinzer the Mako Sharkvia Ocearch
A bit further out in the Pacific Ocean, Yinzer has found his way to the deeper depths of Florida's surrounding oceans. This adult male Mako is only 6 feet and 10 inches long, weighing a mere 225 lbs - much lighter than his other shark brothers and sisters swimming closer to the coastline right now. He was named by the Mandella family, who happen to be avid shark followers.
