Singh Wants Trump Impeached And Canadians Are Shook
Part of the duty of being a world leader is maintaining peace with other nations. It’s a difficult job that often requires shaking hands with people who you disagree with and standing around for multiple photo-ops. However, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh recently said that he hopes Donald Trump "gets impeached" before he ever has to meet the U.S president.
In a B.C. campaign event, the NDP leader revealed his feelings towards the President of the United States, saying "I hope he gets impeached before I get to speak to him."
When Singh was questioned on what he would say to Trump if elected, he brought up his feelings towards to president, but also admitted, "I say that a little tongue-in-cheek."
While it's no surprise that the American President is controversial, Singh has no issues sharing what he thinks about Trump.
Singh continued to say that it is "disgusting that the president could inflame hatred against people and be so divisive."
"It's horrible that someone in a position of power like him would allow for kids to be stripped from the arms of their parents, from their moms," he said. "That needs to be denounced."
Canadians appeared divided over Singh’s jab at Trump. Some voters saw the move as reckless for the leader, while others applauded the NDP candidate for his stance against the president:
"I agree with the notion but holy f**k," wrote one stunned Twitter user.
"Sounds like a plan," wrote another user.
Singh has made it clear in the past that he has no problem with calling leaders out. The NDP candidate has attacked both Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer on their policies, statements, and what he sees as shortcomings.
Singh famously went after Scheer over his remarks on gay marriage. “Andrew Scheer’s disgusting prejudice against LGBTQI2S+ people and families is very painful for many Canadians. This is exactly why, if Canadians deliver a minority government in October, I will not prop up Andrew Scheer and the Conservatives.”
According to CBC, Trump is facing impeachment proceedings after a whistleblower claimed that the president pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the son of Joe Biden.
