Toronto Is Now Light Until Later In The Evening Because Winter Won't Last Forever
With the time change and all, winters are always been dark and gloomy in the evenings. But here's some news that will cheer you up. You can expect to see a lot more daylight as the days go by from now on, as the sunset in Toronto is getting later and later for the remainder of winter.
Honestly, what a relief. We've already had the 6ix's most beautiful sunset and now we've had it's earliest, too.
According to timeanddate.com, Friday, December 13 was the final day of 2019 for which the sunset was set for the offensively early time of 4:40 p.m.
On Saturday, the sun won't disappear until 4:41 p.m. And, from then on, the only way is up.
By the final day December 31, it'll be in the sky until 4:50 p.m. OK, that might not sound like that much difference, but it's a good start and a sign we're already heading in the right direction!
Unfortunately, with later sunsets also come later sunrises, so the morning commutes might still be tough.
But at least we can start to look forward to getting home from work in the daylight again.
This doesn't mean the days are actually getting longer in terms of the amount of light, though. Not quite yet.

According to the site, the shortest day of the year will land on December 21-22.
After that, we're practically in spring. Well, if you ignore the unfortunate fact that the solstice of December 21 is generally seen as the starting point of winter.
December 23 is the magic date when days start to get longer again, but at least we've already had the earliest sunset of the year. We're slowly but surely heading back to long, light days.
It might not feel like it for a while yet, though, so be warned.
Toronto is set to square off against another blast of wintry weather this coming week and we'll most likely have to deal with cloudy and dark skies for the time being.
But, after some parts of Ontario got more than 50 centimetres of snow in a crazy winter blast, some of us probably needed this sunset news to cheer us up.
The sad thing about winter is that, although we may have some beautiful sunny days, major storms like the one we had this week tend to ruin our fun.
Although we're still craving the return of bright days (not to mention warmth) after the recent conditions, it's nice to know we're on our way back already.
