The Best Places To View This Month's Rare Black Moon Across Canada
A rare celestial event that comes around only once every few decades will grace the skies across North America this month.
On August 21, 2017, the sun, moon and Earth will line up to produce a full solar eclipse that will follow a path from Oregon to South Carolina. Canadians to the north may not see an entirely obscured sun, but they will still be treated to partial eclipse, with some places having more coverage than others.
The luckiest Canadians are those in the west coast, who will have as much as 91% of coverage expected. Elsewhere in the country, the coverage ranges anywhere from 43% to 88%.
It's always recommended that viewers do not look at the sun directly, even if the sun is only partly eclipsed. Protective glasses should be worn by viewers to avoid injury to the eyes.
Happy watching!
