The Largest Tree In Canada Is In BC & You Trek 3 Km Through A Rainforest To Reach It

It's close to 2000 years old!

The largest tree in Canada is actually in B.C. and it's in a surreal rainforest that you have to hike through to reach it.

It's worth the three-kilometre trek through, to see this massive tree that's about 2000 years old, according to the Ancient Forest Alliance.

The incredible tree is so big that photos can't even capture the full effect. Seeing a person next to it though puts just how large it is in perspective.

It's like stepping into a time machine when seeing this giant tree that was in the same spot so long ago.

This tree is located in the gorgeous Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on Vancouver Island and is an absolutely breathtaking natural wonder.

The special western red cedar tree has an extremely fitting name — the Cheewhat Giant.

The Cheewhat Giant tree is definitely worth a spontaneous day trip to go and visit.

Try to pick a not-so-rainy day to venture out into the lush forest and find this tree for a tree-hugging photo.

Seriously — the guy looks super tiny compared to this massive tree.

Dogs are welcome on the hike there too, making it even more fun.

It's also worth going just to explore the stunning rainforest, which has many old-growth trees within it.

Back in 1988, this tree was first discovered. It was then measured to be over 20 feet in diameter and 182 feet in height, according to the Ancient Forest Alliance.

Such a gigantic tree it almost seems mythological.

Luckily, it's not a myth, the Cheewhat Giant is a real living tree that is massive.

British Columbians hit the jackpot with the lush rainforest that holds Canada's largest tree.

Maybe it's all the rain that happens on Vancouver Island that helped this big boy grow to such great heights.
