The South Beach Mango Festival In Miami Has Been Canceled Due To 'Unforeseen Circumstances'
It's official: the 2019 South Beach Mango Festival has been canceled. The SoBe Mango Fest is rescheduled for Summer 2020. Festival organizers posted the cancelation announcement on July 16 on the festival's Instagram page. Today, they posted a cancelation reminder and postponement information.
The 2019 South Beach Mango Festival was supposed to take place this weekend on from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28 at Lummus Park on Ocean Drive. The official postponement dates and location for next summer's festival have not yet been released.
Festival organizers cited "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for this year's cancellation. Comments were turned off on the festival's cancellation and reminder posts. However, a few followers commented about the news on a previous Insta post by the festival, voicing their disappointment over the decision.
One commenter said that the cancellation ruined their family's weekend. A festival organizer responded to the commenter, expressing that the decision "did not come lightly" and that they "simply could not guarantee a first-class experience."
Another commenter pressed for why the festival was canceled. An organizer replied, "...we hope to correct the errors and bring this festival back in 2020." It has not yet been clarified what these errors were.
The South Beach Mango Festival is an annual event held on Miami Beach. The festival includes activities like mango tastings, competitions, auctions, cooking demonstrations, and yoga and meditation classes. Not to mention loads of mango-infused creations like tasty cocktails and delicious dishes for festival-goers to enjoy, with all-inclusive passes to food and drinks offered before the festival.
The festival uses only locally farmed mangoes to support Florida farmers. Over 100 vendors were expected at this year's festival, but it is unclear if they will return for next summer's postponed festival.
