Toronto's chief medical officer has issued a heat warning for residents of the GTA. Temperatures are expected to rise above 30 C, with humidex values near 40 C.
The city has opened a number of designated cooling areas for those affected. GTA residents are advised to seek out cool areas such as a "tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building."
