There's A Bacon Themed Festival Happening This Weekend In Ottawa That You Must Attend
A bacon festival? Have you ever heard of a better idea? I haven't.
Baconpalooza, which is set to be hosted at the Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum, runs from Friday September 9th to Sunday September 11th. Every day is themed with different bacon-related foods, so if you're a huge bacon lover or a foodie in general, this festival is for you.
Friday September 9th // Bacon Bash
From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. you will be able to taste a delicious array of bacon-related foods prepared by Ottawa's very own, Chef Michael Blackie and Food Network Chef, Corbin Tomaszeski. You can also catch a cooking special with Lynn Crawford and Mike McKenzie and dance the night away with live music from Bang on the Ear.
Saturday September 10th // Sizzling Saturday
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. you'll be able to eat bacon for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you arrive early enough you can get a free bacon breakfast, explore the market for bacon scented soaps and find all other bacon related necessities. Craft Beer Market, one of Ottawa's local breweries, will be serving cold beers to go along with all the salty foods. You can also look forward to food demonstrations for part of the day from local celebrity chefs working in restaurants here in Ottawa. Autumns Cannon will provide live music for the last part of the night.
Sunday September 11th // Bacon, Bourbon & Bands
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday looks a lot like Saturday, however there will be different chefs involved this time around. If you happen to be hungover from the night before, be sure to catch the caesar demonstration to help you recover. And at 3 p.m. there'll be a Bourbon and bacon demonstration that you won't want to miss. Also, the market providing you with all of your cool bacon needs will still be open all day long.
Even if you're not a foodie, this festival can show you all the ways you should be using bacon and I mean, who wouldn't want more bacon in their lives? Seriously, trying out chocolate covered bacon is a once in a lifetime experience!
If you're interested in attending Baconpalooza, you can buy tickets at the door or online.
