This Suspension Bridge In Arizona Leads You Through A 392-Acre Desert Garden
There's something about desert blooms that make us happy. If you're in love with nature too, then you'll love visiting this botanical garden in Arizona. It's filled with three miles of trails, 392 acres of land, and thousands of plants. It is a literal cactus wonderland.
The Boyce Thompson Arboretum is only a short, one-hour road trip away from Phoenix. It's the perfect place to visit for a day trip with your friends or S/O.
For a $15 per person admission fee, you'll be able to stroll through the garden on your own or opt for a guided daily tour, which is included in the admission price. You'll learn about recent wildlife spottings on the 1.5-mile trail along with facts and history about the arboretum, plant species, and native wildlife.
What we're excited about is the arboretum's suspension bridge. It hovers above a natural creek, making for the most amazing photo.
If you thought you'd seen it all, the garden is introducing a new section, The Wallace Desert Garden, after five years in the making.
It's a whopping 13 acres and will include over 5,000 new species of plants, 62 of which are considered rare and endangered. The grand opening will be on March 28.
Be sure to bring your camera and take lots of pictures. You may see a variety of wildlife, especially birds!
Some recent sightings include the Inca Dove, Pied-billed Grebe, and Anna's Hummingbird.
In the spring, you can encounter wildflower blooms that are just as pretty as they sound. If you plan your visit, you can stop by one of the many events too.
One of them includes an Edible and Medicinal Wildflower walk. What better way to learn about native plants than from an author?
With a glass greenhouse filled with cacti, this nursery is a great way to relax and go on a plant safari. Whether you're in town visiting or are an Arizona native, this is one spot you'll want to keep visiting.
