This Breathtaking Trail In Nova Scotia Is Probably The Most Beautiful Place In Canada
No, you’re not looking at a picture of the Ben Lomond trail in New Zealand, or of the picturesque scenery at Ireland's Cliffs of Moher. This is a picture of Canada. Your home. The land of nature and our True North strong and free.
While Canada has been ranked as one of the most beautiful countries in the world, we sometimes neglect just how charming the East coast of this country is - and how badly we need to explore it. Though if you’ve already conquered the Rockies and are looking to add something new to your Canadian bucket list - then the Cabot Trail is about to be your next destination.
Located in Cape Breton, an island four hours from Halifax, the Cabot Trail captivates hikers and drivers with it’s stunning backdrop of rolling hills and glistening water.
While it's considered to be one of the most scenic routes on the planet, it's probably best discovered on foot. Stepping off the main road and onto their many hiking trails, you can explore the area on your own while also venturing into some of the villages along the coast.
Publications have called Cape Breton Island one of the must-see islands in the world, and it’s our job as Canadians to actually see it. The natural beauty of the highlands also provides room for outdoor activities; some of which include golfing, kayaking, hiking, cycling, and - if you’re lucky - even some whale watching.

Also available beyond the route is the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where a third of the trail ends up winding through. At the park, you are able to play golf at the famous Highlands Link, go artisan shopping, or even have the chance to spend the night at one of their many camping sites.
There, you can also watch the sun go down while walking the Skyline Trail, find out how to boil some lobster, or attend a park picnic that is complete with incredible views of the island.

An island that is meant to be explored, the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia is something that you must include on your wish list of travel destinations.
