Sometimes, us Ottawans think that the only cute spot for coffee is in the ByWard Market. You can people watch, you can go shopping afterwards, or you can just hangout at the coolest spot in the city. However, that's not always the case.
A little bit outside of Ottawa, in Wakefield, hides an adorable cafe that is filled with fresh desserts and pastries. All of their items are homemade, and they'll leave you wanting to make the 30 minute trip from the city every single day. Located in a quaint wooden house, Patisserie La Toque needs to be your next stop.

Patisserie La Toque is a cafe that has a clear view of the Gatineau River. While walking out the door with your delicious coffee and treats in hand, you can walk right across the street and take in the views of the stunning river. If this isn't the perfect spot for a date, I'm not sure what is!

Patisserie La Toque has a ton of different pastries that will blow your tastebuds away. Not only are they homemade, but they taste like you're eating them in Paris, that's how delicious these French pastries are. A few of the desserts they sell are:
- Gluten-free macarons
- Éclairs
- Creampuffs
- Ice cream sandwiches
- Cookies
- Cake
- Popsicles
And so much more! You can also get a drink with your delicious pastry, such as an espresso, latte, tea, cappuccino, and more! This spot is open all year round, so you can sip your latte and eat your dessert near the water whether the leaves are changing, it's +40 outside, or whether there is a snow storm on the way.

Patisserie La Toque is located at 729 Chemin Riverside in Wakefield, Quebec. It's only a half hour drive from Ottawa, and it's so worth it. If you're looking for a treat, this is more than that.
