A Hilariously Honest LRT Account Has Popped Up On Twitter & Ottawa Commuters Love It

If you don't laugh about the new LRT then you'll cry!

It’s no secret that Ottawa’s new LRT has been in hot water, as there’s been almost consistent problems with the service since day-one. There’s been countless morning delays, serious overcrowding and persistent malfunctions on the system from the outset, and Ottawans are totally fed-up with it. However, a new LRT Twitter account has arrived on the scene, and it's actually managing to keep Ottawa's commuters laughing.

It’s not been a good start for Ottawa’s new LRT, which was officially launched back in September. Since it started running, there’s been countless issues with the service, including delays, cancellations and regular operating malfunctions.

The LRT situation has become so bad that even the Ottawa Mayor has dragged the service online, and a genuine support group has had to be set up for anxious and overwhelmed commuters that use the service.

While Ottawa’s LRT has been all doom-and-gloom so far, there’s a new Twitter account that is trying to inject some fun into the situation, and they’re managing to be super-helpful at the same time.

The new and unofficial “OCC Transpo” (Occasional Transport) Twitter account is keeping Ottawa’s commuters laughing, by delivering a hilarious commentary on the disastrous new LRT, while also providing useful updates about the service’s delays and cancellations.

The Occasional Transportation Twitter page provides regular and timely updates about the LRT services, while also offering a hilariously sarcastic take on everything that’s happening on the LRT.

For example, earlier this week the page joked, "All reports (now 5) say train is fine and clear. Tunnys and Blair are functioning as expected. Parliament still smells like fecal materials."

In another example, the OCC Transpo page wrote, “Remember to dress warmly tomorrow in case you have to push your bus! Or be involved in a police chase. Still no reports of anything major at this time. Good luck fellow citizens tomorrow early am!"

With a surprisingly sophisticated website to match their Twitter account, the people/person behind Occasional Transportation explains that the page is, “An informative and satirical website built to communicate the status of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit lines.”

Their explanation goes on, “Why? Because someone has to.”

With everything from satirical news, hilarious reviews and “in progress” statistics, this is your one-stop-shop for everything LRT.

The very-legit-looking website is not all jokes and has plenty of super helpful information about how the LRT is running on a daily basis.

The hilariously honest Twitter page and website have clearly struck a chord with Ottawa’s commuters, who have been taking to social media to share their love for Occasional Transportation.

One Twitter user wrote, “Follow this guy. great info and...god forbid...sharp humour.”

Another added, “Following this has been one of the best decisions of my Twitter existence!"
