This Tiny Community Helped A Grieving Family In The Most Canadian Way Ever And It'll Bring Tears To Your Eyes

Milestone, Saskatchewan knows how to take care of each other.

There's nothing more heartwarming than seeing the Canadian spirit at work in our communities. One small community, in particular, felt that recently as the people came together to help a grieving family.

Brian Williams was a 68-year-old farmer from Milestone, Saskatchewan who passed away just last Friday at a Saskatchewan hospital.  While Brian's family, which includes his loving wife and numerous kids was grieving, life at the farm still had to carry on.

In the farming industry, it is almost expected to have large families, simply because farms are a lot of work and more family members means more workers to help out, especially towards the end of the summer when the harvest takes place.

But with the Williams family grieving the loss of their father, the rest of the community in Milestone stepped up to help the family and ensure the farm made their harvest.

The mayor of Milestone, Jeff Brown, a farmer himself, shared a photo on his Twitter of combines plowing the Williams' fields and said that over 20 combines, four carts, and countless neighbours and friends went over to help the family complete their harvesting will also giving them time to mourn and recover.

Milestone is a close-knit community, with a population of just over 600. The town is located in south-eastern Saskatchewan, approximately 50 km away from Regina.

The actions of this community exemplify the Canadian spirit. As one resident said in response to Mayor Brown's tweet, seeing the small town come together like that makes their heart happy in a sad time.
