Toronto's New Cannabis Shop Opens Tomorrow And It's Taking Over The Iconic HMV Location At Yonge And Dundas

Tokyo Smoke is hosting their launch party tomorrow.

Toronto cannabis stores were able to finally open their doors on April 1, yet many of these locations have actually kept their doors closed for some extra prep time. Finally, another Toronto cannabis shop has announced that it is opening its doors tomorrow and it's taking over the iconic HMV Younge street location. Tokyo Smoke has announced that they will be opening their Yonge street store tomorrow and it's definitely not something you want to miss.

At 9 AM on May 6, Tokyo Smoke will be opening its doors to anyone who is 19-years or older. The launch party will be serving light refreshments and 'goodies' for those who come out to show their support. Guests will be able to browse through the 104 strains that they have to offer and have the opportunity to ask staff any questions that you may have.

With a media free first day, it encourages everyone to come to check out the store discreetly, without fear of having their face plastered all over the news. It also gives customers a chance to talk with the staff easily.

Of course, this location is drawing attention as it's taking over the famous HMV Underground location that was previously located at 333 Younge Street. Tokyo Smoke is taking over that location and transforming the interior into a spot for adult recreational cannabis culture.

In it's prime this HMV location hosted some of the biggest names of all time, such as Green Day, DNCE, Guns 'N' Roses and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Now, as one of Toronto's few cannabis stores, Tokyo Smoke will be offering a whole new kind of entertainment.

Tokyo Smoke's grand opening comes in light of dozens of Ontario cannabis stores not opening on the designated April 1 date that they were expected to open on.

According to Global News, a dozen of Ontario's cannabis stories were actually penalized because they did not open on time. Only 10 of the 25 cannabis stores that won the Ontario lottery were up and running by the beginning of April.

Those stores that were not open on time received a fine from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission. Those who didn't open saw their commission drop down $12,500 on a $50,000 letter of credit.

As of the end of April, 11 of Ontario's 25 legal cannabis stores still have yet to open, leaving many customers (not so) high and dry.
