The convicted killer has officially been transferred to a medium-security prison in Edmonton. There she will continue to serve out her life-sentence for first-degree murder.Â
The news comes as a relief to many Canadians and Stafford's family, who believe that McClintic should never have been transferred in the first place. Her move from an Ontario prison to the healing lodge was incredibly controversial and many Canadians were outraged by it.Â
Now, in regards to the news that she is back in a higher-security facility, Canadians are sharing their relief on Twitter. But some still say it's not enough considering what she did.Â
She never should have been moved to begin with.
GOOD!!!! She never should have been moved in the first place!!! She should spend her life in solitary confinement for what she did to that poor little girl!!!
This woman is dangerous and should be in a secure facility for the criminally insane. I hope this is not the end of this and that Corrections Canada plans on moving her to max security.
Tori Stafford was abducted, raped, and killed back in 2009 when she was only nine-years-old. McClintic, who was 18 at the time, was originally charged with accessory to murder alongside Michael Rafferty who was 28. However, as the investigation unfolded, her charges were updated to forceful confinement and first-degree murder. Â
Tori Stafford had been assaulted and brutally beaten. The cause of death was later determined to be numerous blows to the head with some kind of hammer.Â
Stafford's family was informed of McClintic's move last night. Rafferty, the other person charged with Stafford's death is also serving a life sentence at a prison in Ontario.Â
