Toronto Blue Jays Fans Have Mixed Feelings Over Kevin Pillar Trade
Today, it was made official - Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar has been traded to the San Francisco Giants for infielder Alen Hanson, pitchers Juan De Paula and Derek Law. This news comes to us as no surprise, considering the Blue Jays have been in talks with other teams over the past week, discussing possible trades for the Jays outfielder.
Pillar was at the centre of controversy at one point in his Jays career. He was suspended by the Blue Jays in 2017 for using a homophobic slur when talking smack to Atlanta Braves pitcher, Jason Motte. Pillar apologized for his actions and clearly made his way back into the hearts of Jays fans because many seem shocked and a little upset that the star outfielder has been traded.

Here's what some Jays fans have to say on the controversial trade so far:
It's official: I fucking hate the Toronto Blue Jays today! Effective immediately & it should come as no surprise to the rest of the fan base, but Ross Atkins & Mark Shapiro are shit at their jobs & no account to the fans & will make this team worse off then when they arrived!
First Martin, now Pillar. Thank you @BlueJays for trading away my two favourite players. https://t.co/XbpQlSqpWs
Feeling sad & nostalgic to see another awesome #BlueJays player leave our team. Watching the @BlueJays of 2015 & 2016 was a highlight, made even more memorable for the great ⚾️ plays by Kevin Pillar. Thank you, @KPILLAR4. #Toronto will miss you. 🇨🇦 thanks you.
Rip blue jay fans
Sad day...@KPILLAR4 was the heart of @BlueJays and contributed more to the City of Toronto than just his spectacular play on the field. All the best Superman.

While many fans are saddened by the news, all are wishing Pillar well as he begins a new chapter of his career, thanking him for everything he’s done in Toronto.
One Blue Jays fan said it best with this comment: “My favourite Jay of all time. Sad to see him go but it makes sense in the long run. Jays get a fresh new look, and Pillar gets to play on his home state of California. A chance to revitalize his career as well. I’m not sad it’s over, I’m just really happy it happened. #ThanksPillar.”
