Environment Canada has isssued a special weather statement regarding the frigid temperatures and significant bouts of snow expected to accumulate: "An An Arctic cold front will cross Southern Ontario late this afternoon into this evening. It will likely be accompanied by a brief burst of heavier snow with reduced visibilities affecting travel."

The winter conditions hitting the city are due to an Alberta Clipper low pressure area that will make its way across the southern regions of the province. Citizens are advised to take extra caution when driving as the snow will produce poor driving conditions, and to consider switching to their winter tires as soon as possible. As for transit users, they are advised to bundle up for the chilly temperatures and plan ahead for a slower commute.
