Toronto Is Getting An Early Taste Of Spring This Weekend
It may be hard to believe, especially as Toronto shivers in -11°C windchills right now. But, as the city braces for snowfall and freezing rain Wednesday, a refreshingly mild weather pattern will move into the Toronto area from the Gulf of Mexico by the weekend. Toronto may be under a special weather watch, but temperatures will soar by the weekend, peaking at a balmy 8°C on Sunday.
As for Wednesday's freezing rain storm, The Weather Network's Dr. Doug Gillham says that "precipitation amounts will be considerably lighter than what we saw last week". But, drivers and pedestrians can expect to deal with icy and slippery conditions on untreated surfaces.

Toronto will begin seeing snow flurries at around lunchtime on Wednesday, which will turn into freezing rain by the end of the workday and throughout the evening. However, no significant accumulation of ice and snow is expected. Ottawa through to central Ontario will see the worst of it, only about 5 cm total.
But, milder temperatures will dominate on Friday, and the daytime high will climb to a few degrees above seasonal, The Weather Network reports. Saturday will see mostly sunny skies and a high of 2°C. Sunday's high will climb to 8°C, with it 2-4 mm of mixed precipitation.

Sadly, it seems that the mild weather trend will be short-lived. Sunday's 8°C high is expected to plummet overnight - by Monday, temperatures will feel closer to -12°C with the windchill.

Meteorologists are still claiming that colder than normal temperatures will dominate the first two weeks of March. Ontario will be locked in a "battle zone" between arctic cold fronts and warmer air from the Gulf of Mexico.
Only one month left to wait until the real spring season begins!
