A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with two homicides in Burnaby, B.C., three years ago.
Investigators say Mohammed Arif Ansari was arrested Friday, and two counts of second-degree murder and one count of indignity to human remains have been approved against him.
Burnaby RCMP found the bodies of 31-year-old Kiesha Garie and 30-year-old Umair Kasim inside a vehicle on Alpha Avenue on Oct. 17, 2022.
Police say the homicides were targeted, and that the victims and the accused knew each other.
No further details on the case were released.
Police had previously said that the victims were a couple from Coquitlam, B.C., that had been reported missing before being found dead.

Public health officials in Manitoba say a provincewide measles outbreak is over.
That comes more than a year after it first reported new cases of the disease.
The government says the last laboratory-confirmed case was identified in August.
A total of 1,038 measles cases have been documented in the province since the outbreak was first reported.
The province says there were 52 hospitalizations, with half of them involving children under the age of 10.
Of the total reported cases, 87 per cent of the people were either not immunized or their immunization status was unknown.

A hospital in London, Ont., is cutting more than 100 registered nurse positions in its mental health programs as it tries to balance its budget.
St. Joseph's Health Care London says in a statement that it is removing 83 full-time and 31 part-time RN roles, and adding close to the same number of registered practical nurse, personal support worker, occupational therapist, physiotherapy assistant, social worker and therapeutic recreation assistant roles.
The hospital says it did a model of care review and is updating the service delivery model in its mental health inpatient, regional outpatient and outreach program at Parkwood Institute.
It comes as the hospital recorded its first-ever deficit last year, of $4.7 million, and has a planned operating deficit this year.
The hospital says its goal is to find ways to maintain the quality of core services while it reaches a balanced budget within three years.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones has told all hospitals in the province to eliminate deficits within that timeframe, and she says today in a statement that the government has given hospitals record amounts of funding and will work with them to ensure people have access to high-quality care.
