Toronto Outdoor Rinks Are Kept Closed Due To Fall-Like Weather
The winter season may technically be only a few weeks away, but Mother Nature is still in full Fall mode, with much of southern Ontario experiencing above seasonal temperatures.Â
This week alone, most areas of Toronto will be in the positives, with temperatures reaching a high of 11°C on Tuesday and dropping down to a low of 1°C on Friday night.
And even though these warmer temperatures might feel like a cause for celebration rather than a worry, there are some downsides to the unseasonal weather.
Many of Toronto's outdoor rinks were meant to open for the winter season this weekend, but due to the rising temperatures heading to Toronto this week, those plans had to be canceled.Â
Home to 52 outdoor artificial ice rinks, this would have been a big weekend for Toronto and its residents.Â
Now that things are heating up in the city, the initial opening date (November 25) has been postponed indefinitely for 42 out of the 52 outdoor rinks.Â
But, with the longterm winter forecast looking incredibly chilly and snowy for Toronto, this minor delay might not be anything to fear. We're sure the rinks will officially open in the coming weeks, and definitely be ready for business before the Christmas break commences.Â
