Toronto's CNE Officially Opens Today, Here's Everything You Need To Know

Picket lines, opening day deals, brand new attractions you need to know about at The EX!

Today is the official opening day of the Canadian National Exhibition, better known as the CNE or the EX.

The CNE is an annual tradition at Toronto’s Exhibition Place grounds and attracts thousands of visitors each year for its rides, wild food creations, airshows, and many other things.

Here’s everything you need to know about the first day of the fair.

The grounds will officially be open at 10 a.m. this morning.

The opening will include a parade by the Toronto Police Mounted Unit and The Band of the Royal Regiment of Canada, which will only be happening today.

Admission to the grounds on opening day is only $10 if you buy tickets at the gate. This is a special price just for the opening day and you can stay there as long as you’d like, so it’s quite the deal.

If you are attending, though, you will need to walk through a picket line of protesting technical and staging experts who were locked out by the CNE.

Both Premier Doug Ford and Mayor John Tory will be on hand to help open the gates of the fair today.

It may be a little awkward between the two politicians, as Ford’s government recently voted to cut Toronto city council in basically in half, something Tory is strongly against.

But, aside from that, today should be a great day to head down to the EX and take in all the rides and strange food you can eat.
