Toronto's Most Popular Pet Names Just Dropped & Apparently 'Dexter' Is A Top Choice

Because what cat doesn't give off serial killer vibes?

If you're wondering if your cute furry companion has a unique name, well, Toronto's most popular pet names for 2021 were just revealed and there are some questionable trends out there for both cats and dogs.

The most popular pet names were unveiled by Rover, a website that connects owners with pet sitters and dog walkers, and while there are some cute choices there are some peculiar picks as well.

Each and every year, Rover combs through its database of 35,000 pet parents to discover what names were popular and trendy. This year, the most popular dog names for all of the good boys in Toronto were Charlie, Milo, Max, Leo, and Cooper. And then there's Luna, Bella, Lola, Chloe, and Coco for the ladies.

Luna is also the number one choice for the female felines, followed by Lilly, Lucy, Cleo, and Stella. While Charlie also comes out on top for Toronto's male cats with Leo coming in at second on the list.

Felix and Milo are also in the top five, and Dexter — the name of one sinister serial killer from TV — comes in at number four.

Sidney and Pandora are also rising in popularity and Toronto dog owners are also apparently big snack lovers with many naming their pups after things like Reese, Nugget, Mango, Pumpkin, and Sugar.

Travel is also another source of inspiration as Boston and Sydney are trendy for dogs, and Toulouse a more common choice for cats.

Across Canada, Bella and Charlie come out on top for most popular dog names while Luna and Milo rank first for cats. But Luna seems to just be a popular name in general as it made the list for popular baby names this past year, too.
