Vancouver's Weather Is Bringing 'Unusually Cold Temperatures & 90 km/h Winds For Some Areas
Time to bundle up!
Vancouver's weather is about to shift back into winter, with "unusually cold temperatures" and gale-force winds expected.
If you thought spring had sprung in Vancouver — unfortunately, the warmer weather is not staying for long.
A special weather statement from Environment Canada has said that Metro Vancouver weather will be getting "unusually cold temperatures and strong outflow winds."
An Arctic air mass is going to flow through the Vancouver area creating these super-cold temperatures.
Temperatures are forecast to get as low as -5 C to -10 C, with wind chills as low as -15 C, although the coldest temperatures will be happening during the Tuesday overnight period into Wednesday morning.
The special weather statement is in effect for the following areas:
- Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster.
- Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver.
- Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.
- Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley.
- Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta.
You can expect the freezing temperatures to last all through Tuesday until Wednesday night, so if you had any outdoor plans in the next couple of days, don't forget your mittens and toques.
The cold temperatures are not only affecting Vancouver but many other parts of B.C. as well.
A wind warning is in effect for Howe Sound as northerly winds gusting up to 90 km/h are set to batter the region.
The warning adds: "Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break."
After this Arctic air mass is through, the special weather statement said that you can expect to see some warmer temperatures breaking through as early as Thursday.
