Vegan Protestors Took Over One Of Canada’s Biggest Malls This Weekend And Here's Why (PHOTOS)
Saturday is always a busy day when you're shopping in downtown Toronto and this weekend was certainly no different at the city's giant mall. The Eaton Centre was busy with back to school shoppers this weekend before a giant protest broke out at the mall.

Luckily, it was a peaceful protest and a continuation of the Official Animal Rights March in Toronto this past Saturday, August 25. The vegan protestors were seen walking throughout the mall chanting, singing, and holding signs that promoted a plant-based lifestyle.

After marching through the downtown core of Toronto, the protestors moved indoors. Thinking about where they could get their message heard loud and clear, the protestors moved into the Eaton Centre, owned by Cadillac Fairview.
Protestors had megaphones and songs prepared to chant while inside. Their repertoire included the song "What the World Needs Now" by Jackie DeShannon, a song from 1965.

It's not the first time vegans have been seen protesting in the city and it certainly won't be the last. But that doesn't mean that Torontonians are happy with the exceptionally vocal activists.
Shoppers actually took to Twitter to air out their frustrations with what the demonstration did for mall traffic. Especially when the demonstration ended up setting off alarms in the mall.
Y are vegans protesting at Eaton centre loool
I love it when there’s an emergency alarm at Eaton Centre but I can’t hear it over a frickin Vegan protest...
Even one neighbourhood in the city is actually protesting the vegans due to some new major developments, including even trying the nickname of Parkdale to "Vegandale." Their issues aren't with the lifestyle choices of others, but the fact that they want to be remembered for the history of the neighbourhood, not food.
Just saw a bakery in Parkdale called Vegandale in case you’ve ever wondered what gentrification looks like.
Torontonians may be having a hard time getting used to the vegan neighbours but it seems like they're proving that they are here to stay. Especially with the constant development of new vegan restaurants and shops across the GTA.
Setting off the alarms at one of Toronto's biggest malls is definitely not good but here's hoping that next time the vegan's march they learn from their mistakes! We are just animals after all.
