Western University Made It Mandatory For Students In Residence To Get A COVID-19 Vaccine
Students living in residence have to get at least their first dose.
Western University is now requiring all students planning to live in residence this fall to get vaccinated.
According to the university, anyone staying on-campus at Western, Brescia, Huron and King's will be required to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, if Ontario vaccine supply allows.
"The health of our community is a shared responsibility," said Alan Shepard, the president and vice-chancellor of Western University. "We're asking students to play an important role in keeping themselves, their friends and classmates, and our community safe and healthy."
If students are unable to get a dose before move-in, they will have 14 days afterwards to do so. If a student is not able to receive a vaccine for medical or other reasons, they are asked to contact the university to make accommodations.
Western will reportedly operate an on-campus vaccination clinic this summer to help students and staff get vaccinated before school starts.
