Kid That Received The Maple Leaf Foods Mix-Up Cake Is Getting The Best Hockey Surprise
Who would've guessed that a hilarious bakery mistake would lead to a hockey fan's ultimate dream? 8-year-old Jacob Levesque from Quebec scored free tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs game after receiving a birthday cake with the wrong Maple Leaf logo. Jacob's cake was supposed to have a Toronto Maple Leafs logo on it, but he was presented with a Maple Leaf Foods cake instead.
Maple Leaf Foods, the meat company, will be sending the birthday boy and his family to watch a Leafs game and even giving them free food to cheer Jacob up after his birthday letdown.
Jacob's stepmom, Tania Levesque, told CP24 that her partner had made a cake order from a bakery not too far from their home just days before the birthday boy's hockey-themed party in Mascouche, Quebec.
Apparently the bakery didn't have a Leafs' logo on hand so Levesque suggested they could search for it on Google.
The family also noted that they had made the same cake for Jacob for the past three years with no issues.
They may not be the cast of "Cake Boss," but the bakery thought they picked the right logo.
According to CBC News, when the day came to pick up the cake, Mathieu Bertrand, Jacob's father, picked up the cake from the bakery and made his way to a Montreal hockey arena for his son's party.
When the family checked the cake out, it was definitely not a Toronto Maple Leafs cake.
According to CP24, they were crying with laughter, but the birthday boy was not impressed.
“He doesn't really know Maple Leaf meat products. He was a little confused, and when he understood and we explained, he said he didn't want any 'ham cake,”' said Levesque to CP24.
Even the kids in attendance were confused about the logo, according to CBC News.
Jacob refused to eat the cake but the family has no hard feelings towards the bakery and the other guests enjoyed the comical cake.
The incident was first shared on a Facebook post on Tania's personal account and so far has been shared over 1,500 times.
It got enough attention that Maple Leaf Foods responded in a tweet and shared plans to send the family to watch Jacob's favourite team play in real life.
It seems like everybody, including Justin Bieber, is showing love for the Leafs.
"Sorry to see that Jacob was disappointed with his cake, but we're giving him something that will turn his thumbs UP! We're sending Jacob and his family to @MapleLeafs game and we're going to fuel them with delicious @mapleleaf products!" wrote Maple Leaf Foods in their tweet.
According to CBC News, the food company offered Levesque a choice between watching a game in Toronto or Montreal. Of course, the family picked watching the game in the 6ix.
After all, we know how wild Toronto hockey enthusiasts can be.
This will be Jacob's first time in the city, watching his favourite team play.
