You Can Float For Hours Down This Natural Lazy River In Florida

Rainbow River is the ultimate lazy river.

Florida heat is known for being pretty intense. Thankfully the Sunshine State is surrounded by nearly endless bodies of water to cool off in. But one place, in particular, stands out from the rest: Rainbow River.

Located in Dunnellon, Florida, this bright blue waterway has become a hot spot for tourists who come to be awed by the crystal clear water and locals who want to unwind after a busy work week in the best way possible, — on a two-hour lazy river journey.

While Rainbow Springs State Park offers an array of activities including swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, and other land-based recreational activities, tubing down their natural freshwater lazy river is undoubtedly what this park is best known for.

You can either rent an innertube or bring your own and the cost to tube is $20, which includes the tram ride to the tubing entrance so, after your journey, you end up back to your point of origin. Entrance into the park is an additional $2 per person.

The water temperature averages 72 degrees year-round, making it the perfect place for a dip during those 90-degree days. Not to mention the turquoise clear water alone is super inviting.

The park is open 365 days a year, but they only offer tubing from April through September. They open the first Saturday in April only on weekends from 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m., then from Memorial Day to Labor Day they will be open every day from 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Parking is free but spots fill up fast! The park is located at 10830 S.W. 180th Ave Rd., Dunnellon, FL.
